Family-owned Ford Civil are experienced construction professionals with a solid reputation in government and private sector civil construction projects.
The company provides a range of civil services from site remediation to roadworks, demolition and commercial landscaping. Ford Civil has a track record of delivering landmark works with a reputation for excellence, evidenced most recently by its win in the 2014 National Earth Awards.
Current jobs on its books include the streetscape works at Sydney's Green Square, as well as the roads and entrance ways to Headland Park at Barangaroo. Ford Civil is also doing some major street and landscape improvement works for Sydney City Council and major civil and landscape works at the Harold Park development site.
Ford Civil's ability to deliver even the most complex and challenging projects on schedule and to budget stems from a well-organised, experienced team of highly qualified engineers, construction and project managers, estimators, surveyors, accountants, forepersons, machine operators and construction workers. That, and approximately 300 years' worth of management experience.
In short, they aren't new to the business.
Ford Civil's hard landscaping works mean large amounts of paving and road works, along with high quality natural and imported stone finishes, which in turn means moving large amounts of heavy material with efficiency and finesse. Having tried other machines over the years, one of Ford Civil's favourite weapons of choice is the Thwaites 9-tonne dumper, which is distributed in Australia by Earthmoving Equipment Australia. "We've been using articulated dumpers on worksites for over 10 years now," says Managing Director Stuart Ford. "We switched to Thwaites about three years ago and have been really happy with their level of service and reliability and the ease of doing business with EEA."
Ford Civil started with one 9-tonne articulated Site Dumper and purchased a second not long afterwards. "What we found," says Ford, "was that the Thwaites Site Dumper definitely has superior availability for work, in that it doesn't break down and we rarely have any issues with it. Its working hours are much better than the models we used to run, so we're very happy with the Thwaites. EEA were easy to work with, and they made deals easy and no fuss. They were able to deliver on their promises regarding delivery times and quality inclusions. It was all done to a high standard, and the service department has been exceptional in their response to routine servicing."
Ford says that one of the easiest aspects of dealing with Earthmoving Equipment Australia is that the people who run the business are very much industry people. "It means they actually understand our business. When we're dealing with them, I think they are very attentive to what we are saying and they certainly take that on board. I think it's because of their industry knowledge and experience they really do understand where we are at."
The company also has two 5-tonne excavators from EEA, and is happy to consider adding to that figure in the future.
